The Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC) continues to lead the way in integrating gender perspectives into military operations following its participation in the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Course held from 16–20 March 2026. Hosted at the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VNDPKO) in Hanoi, this high-level training was made possible through the support of the Canadian Department of National Defence and the Kingston Leadership Team Inc (KLT), Canada. The course brought together a diverse group of 31 participants from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam, fostering a strong environment for regional collaboration and professional exchange. Representing MPC, Maj Sathiyaah Asokumar attended as a student, gaining vital insights into the application of gender perspectives in modern peacekeeping.
Throughout the five-day program, participants engaged in a comprehensive curriculum comprised of five modules: Introduction to WPS, Regional Implementation, Women’s Empowerment, Integrating Gender Perspectives, and Applying Gender Analysis Tools. The course utilized interactive lectures, guest presentations, group discussions, and practical exercises to develop the essential competencies required for modern, inclusive peacekeeping.
This successful engagement reflects MPC’s ongoing commitment to professional development and international collaboration, ensuring that our peacekeepers remain at the forefront of promoting gender-responsive operations peace worldwide.
