The Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC) has successfully conducted the United Nations Military Observer Course (UNMOC) Serial 14/2024, commencing from 23 September 2024 to 18 October 2024. The course comprises a total of 34 participants, including 26 local participants from the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and 02 participants from the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), 06 International participants from Germany, Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe. The MPC is honoured to have an International Directing Staff from Thailand to support the execution of the course planning throughout the mentioned period.
The course fulfilled its objective of equipping and preparing all participants to effectively serve as Military Observers (MILOB) in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UN PKO). The prerequisite of pre-deployment training is essential for course participants, enabling them to acquire the requisite knowledge and skills for a competent and efficient deployment as a MILOB. Ex BLUE HAVEN is organized as a Field Training Exercise (FTX) designed to simulate the expected challenges encountered in a UN PKO. Within this framework, participants in the course are assessed through a variety of scenarios specifically designed to align with their distinct roles and duties as MILOB.
The course was officially closed by Brig Gen Dato Abdul Halim bin Abu Hassan RMAF, Director General of the Defence Training Department Malaysian Armed Forces, on 18 October 2024 at the Ban Ki-Moon Auditorium. Also present were Col Noor Azman bin Haji Yahya, the Commandant of the MPC; the Defence Attachés of Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, and the representatives from the Royal Malaysian Police.
