The Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC) Directing Staff participated in the United Nations Military Observer Course (UNMOC) Serial 111/2024 hosted by the German Armed Forces United Nations Training Centre (GEAFUNTC) in Hammelburg, Germany. Major Halifah binti Sarkinin RMAF supported the course as an exchange instructor together with other 6 International Directing Staff, meanwhile Major Ahmad Saiful Rizal bin Yaacob participated as Course Participant along with 31 participants, including 16 German Armed Forces (DEU) participants and 15 multinational participants.
The course commencing from 1st October 2024 to 25th October 2024 has fulfilled its objective of equipping and preparing all participants to effectively serve as Military Observers (MILOB) in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UN PKO). The prerequisite of pre-deployment training is essential for course participants, enabling them to acquire the requisite knowledge and skills for a competent and efficient deployment as a MILOB. Ex BLUE FLAG is organized as a Field Training Exercise (FTX), designed to simulate the expected challenges encountered in a UN PKO. Within this framework, participants in the course are assessed through a variety of scenarios specifically designed to align with their distinct roles and duties as MILOB.
The course was officially closed on 24th October 2024 by the Mayor of Karlstadt, Mr. Michael Hombach. Also present was Col Werner Klaffus, the Commandant of the GEAFUNTC.
