All of the lessons was given by instructors from MPC and it covers 1 week of the course period.

The primary aim of the United Nations Comprehensive Protection of Civilian (CPOC) Course is to prepare potential Military Observers and Staff Officers for deployment into diverse UN peacekeeping operations. This is achieved through a comprehensive training package that integrates critical aspects of Protection of Civilians (PoC), Child Protection (CP), and Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) at the tactical level.

The course places strong emphasis on the planning and decision-making process, delivered through a balanced methodology of lectures, syndicate discussions and Scenario-Based Exercises (SBE). During the SBE, participants are immersed in realistic mission environments where coordination and cooperation across different branches within Headquarters and with external partners are practised. This exercise replicates the dynamics of a multidimensional and integrated mission, enabling participants to experience the complexities of force or sector-level Headquarters operations.

The SBE is not only a test of knowledge but also as a platform to strengthen their interoperability among military, police, and civilian components, develop critical thinking and decision-making under operational pressure and expose on collaborative leadership in safeguarding civilian populations.

As conflicts and crises continue to unfold across various regions, the relevance and significance of the CPOC Course remain paramount. Vulnerable populations affected by armed conflict depend on the ability of peacekeepers to uphold their safety, dignity and rights. The ongoing development and enhancement of these training materials reflect the United Nations unwavering dedication to fulfilling its mission of maintaining international peace and security. More importantly, it underscores Malaysia’s role in contributing to global peace through the Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC).
