Ex PIRAP JABIRU 2024, hosted by the Peace Operations Centre, Directorate of Joint Operation, Royal Thai Armed Forces, and the Australia Defence Force, was held from 15 July to 26 July 2024 at the Brighton Grand Hotel Pattaya, Thailand. The Ex aims to develop an understanding of the key planning factors for the deployment and maintenance of a National contingent to a UN peace operation. This year marks the 14th iteration of the Ex, with a total of 60 participants from 19 countries.

Staff Officers form Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC), Major Zulfazlee bin Zamri and Major Jonathan Bennet, together with Captain Muhammad Asyraf bin Amir Hamzah from Malaysian Army Headquarters, has successfully participated throughout the Ex. The concept of this Ex was based on the knowledge sharing and discussions, considering the cross cutting issues, Protection of Civilians (POC), Women Peace and Security (WPS), Child Protection, Involvement of the United Nations Police (UNPOL), and Training Development. The theme of this Ex - "Global conflict continues to see civilian population adversely affected by war. How do peacekeeping operations achieve their protection of civilian mandates and more broadly how can the UN protect civilians in current conflicts?". By conducting the Scenario-Based Training, the Ex effectively carried out the Course of Action and implementation of all actions to combat the war.

This Ex was jointly inaugurated by Rear Admiral Surasak Pratanvorapanya, Deputy Director of Joint Operations and Group Captain Ritchie Cunningham, Defense Attache Australia to the Thailand on 15th July 2024. The Closing Ceremony later was officialised by Rear Admiral Surasak Pratanvorapanya, Deputy Director of Joint Operations, Major General Chumpot Nurakkate, Director of the Thai Peace Operations Center and Group Captain Ritchie Cunningham, Defense Attache Australia to the Thailand on 26th Jul 24. Also present was the Malaysian Defense Attache.
