BOGOR, INDONESIA, 2 August 2026 – The Multi-National Peacekeeping Exercise (MPE) Garuda Canti Dharma III 2026 was successfully conducted from 20 July to 2 August 2026 at PMPP-TNI, Sentul, Bogor, Indonesia, involving 22 delegations from United Nations Member States. The exercise provided a valuable platform to strengthen interoperability, professional cooperation and preparedness for future United Nations Peacekeeping Operations.
The Malaysian contingent represent eight officers: four from the Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC), three from the Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) and one from the Malaysian Armed Forces Joint Warfare Centre (PESAMA).
MPC participated in two key activities. Under the Staff Training Exercise (STE), Maj Azlinkhair bin Mohd Ajis and Lt Cdr Rudinthan al Jayamany RMN served as Exercise Instructors, while Maj Mohd Izzad Mahizan bin Azizan RMAF participated as an Exercise Participant. Prior to the main exercise, both instructors attended the STE Train-the-Trainer (T3) programme from 16 to 19 July 2026. The Staff Planning Exercise was conducted through four functional lanes comprising Operations, Logistics, Planning and UN-Civil-Military Coordination (UN-CIMIC).
MPC also participated in the Critical Enabler Capability Enhancement (2CE) programme through Maj Sathiyaah a/p Asokumar, who attended the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) stream based on the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325.
The opening ceremony on 20 July 2026 was officiated by Major General TNI Iwan Bambang Setiawan, Commandant of PMPP-TNI, together with Brigadier General Philip L. Mallory, Deputy Adjutant General, USINDOPACOM. The exercise concluded on 31 July 2026 with the closing ceremony officiated by Lieutenant General TNI Bobby Rinal Makmun, Assistant for Operations to the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).
Also present at the closing ceremony and participating in the Senior Officers' Seminar were Colonel Samsul Asmadi bin Mohamed Amin, Commandant of the Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre, and Lieutenant Colonel Hairul bin Aziz, Senior Instructor of the Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre. Their participation reaffirmed Malaysia's continued commitment to strengthening international peacekeeping cooperation, promoting professional military exchanges and enhancing the effectiveness of United Nations peacekeeping operations.
