Bangkok, Thailand | 20 December 2025 — Major Azlinkhair bin Mohd Aziz (Instructor) and Captain Muhammad Syukri bin Hamzah (Participant) have successfully completed the United Nations Staff Officers Course (UNSOC) conducted at the Counter Terrorist Operation Centre (CTOC), Thailand, from 1 to 20 December 2025.
The course brought together military officers from five United Nations Member States—with Thailand as the host nation, alongside Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and China—providing a comprehensive multinational learning environment aligned with United Nations peacekeeping standards.
Throughout the programme, participants were trained in the roles, functions, and responsibilities of UN staff officers within a multinational Peacekeeping Operation (PKO) framework. The latter phase of the course featured practical staff planning and coordination exercises based on the CARANA Country Light Version, designed to enhance participants’ operational planning, coordination, and decision-making capabilities in complex mission environments.
In addition to professional skill development, the course emphasized multicultural cooperation and teamwork, enabling participants to operate effectively within a diverse international setting under the auspices of the United Nations.
Participation in UNSOC represents a significant contribution to the implementation of the Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC) Strategic Plan, particularly under Pillar 2, which focuses on strengthening staff officer competency in support of United Nations peace operations.
