The Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC) in conjunction with the Canadian Directorate Military Training and Cooperation (DMTC) has successfully conducted the International Law of Armed Conflict (ILOAC) Course Serial M238 from 9th until 13th February 2026.
35 participants including 13 local course participants from the Malaysian Armed Forces , along with 22 International participants from Bangladesh, Fiji, Indonesia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam participated throughout these 5 days. It was a great opportunity to have 4 expertise from Canadian Directorate Military Training and Cooperation (DMTC) of Canada facilitated participants on the international law field.
The ILOAC Course is designed to enable an understanding the principles, tasks, duties, rules and legal frameworks that govern the conduct of hostilities during armed conflict. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills and express their ideas in a course setting. This 5-day course is designed to provide a more comprehensive knowledge of International Humanitarian Law (IHL). Through this course, participants will also understand the Law of Armed Conflict which applies to both International Armed Conflicts, and that different bodies of law govern each. They also studied about source of ILOAC, including treaty law and customary international law, and how these legal instruments guide the conduct of military operations at both operational and tactical levels.
The closing ceremony officiated by Lt Col Mohd Adlie bin Mohd, MPC’s Deputy Commandant on 13th February 2026 at Auditorium Ban Ki Moon, MPC. Also present, Defence Attache from Canada, Philippines, and 3rd Secretary of Timor Leste Embassy.
