Col Noor Azman bin Hj Yahya, the Commandant of MPC, has demonstrated Malaysian commitment to the global peacekeeping efforts by attending the 12th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Workshop of the Association of Asia-Pacific Peacekeeping Training Centers (AAPTC) from 27th to 30th May 2024, in Bangladesh. The event, supported by the Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) and hosted by the Bangladesh Institute for Peace Support Operations Training (BIPSOT), brought up the theme of “Development of multi-dimensional peacekeeping training modules with the use of new technologies to deal with the evolving asymmetric threats for effective implementation of UN mandates in UN peace operation environment.”
Throughout the 4-day of discussions, the outcomes of the workshop were aiming to support UN initiatives such Action-for-Peacekeeping (A4P) and A4P Plus, highlighting the importance of collaboration and interoperability among Troop-contributing countries (TCC). As a dedicated member of the AAPTC since its inception in 2010, Malaysia continues to contribute to the development and execution of UN peace operations including addressing complex challenges facing by present peacekeepers and mitigating measures, such non-traditional security threats and environmental risks. The AAPTC provides a crucial platform for member states to collaborate on training and share their best practices. At the outset, AAPTC is created to promote better efficiency and efficacy in the preparation of personnel appointed for UN operations.
