The International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centres (IAPTC) is an open association of centers, institutions, agencies, and programs focused on peace operations research, education, and training. On November 4th until 8th, 2024, the Centre for International Peace and Stability (CIPS), in collaboration with Pakistan's Ministry of Defence, has taken the lead in organizing the 28th International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centres (IAPTC) Conference with assistance from the IAPTC Secretariat, aiming to contribute to more effective peace operations.
Under the theme 'Adaptive Training Strategies for Evolving Peace Operations,' the 28th IAPTC Conference underscores the pressing need to adapt training methodologies to meet the evolving demands of contemporary peacekeeping endeavours. The 28th IAPTC Conference program is meticulously crafted around a series of plenary, breakout and thematic sessions, each designed to foster rich discourse and actionable insights. Moderated by experienced Subject Matter Experts, these sessions provide a platform for speakers to share their expertise and experiences while delving into complementary perspectives of the theme. Emphasizing concision, focus and thought-provoking insights, speakers are encouraged to provide added value to the discussions.
The conference has explored a wide spectrum of topics related to the future of peace operations, harnessing technology to enhance training, and fostering partnerships. Additionally, the event delves deeper into critical issues such as addressing impediments to women’s contributions and effects of Climate Change & Mis/ Disinformation on peace operations.
Participating in the program are the Assistant Chief of Staff for Defence Training and Operations, Maj Gen Datuk Malek Razak bin Sulaiman; the Commandant of the Malaysian Peacekeeping Centre (MPC), Col Noor Azman bin Yahya; and the Head of the Management Division, Maj Mohd Fauzi bin Ismail. The involvement in the conference was vital in ensuring that the latest updates on training standards and requirements, best practices, and knowledge sharing were conveyed to the MPC course participants through updated training modules and experience sharing. This process led to continuous improvement and enhanced competency.
